Skinimalism - skincare minimalism- is a trend that has recently dominated the world. Using fewer skincare products, people nevertheless achieve a minimalistic, glowing look.
Below is a basic skincare routine; you can add items in where you see fit to meet your skin's goals. Obviously, if you can include less products into your routine, that would be ideal, as less goes a long way. If you were to apply layers of serums, oils, eye creams, they may not all be able to penetrate the skin as much!
In the morning, it is vital to protect and prevent UV exposure. Exposure to UV rays can not only damage the DNA in skin cells but can also increase risk for skin cancer. To mitigate the effect of UV radiation, sunscreen is a must!
1. Cleanse.
Cleansers are helpful in removing dirt, oil, and pollution from the skin. More
importantly, they serve as a basis for the rest of the skincare routine. Its appliance allows for the products that follow to penetrate more easily into the skin, more effectively serving its purpose.
For those with oily skin, select either a gel of foaming cleaner - with ingredients
such as salicylic acid and glycolic acids - to properly exfoliate and remove excess oil and dirt from the pores.
For those with dry skin, select a creamy, milky cleanser to repair and restore natural oils to the skin. Ingredients to look out for are hyaluronic acid and lactic acid.

2. Moisturize
This helps with repairing the skin barrier regardless of the skin type you have. Your skin will gain optimal benefit from wearing moisturizer. Accompanied by skin moistening, moisturizer can also prevent inflammation, providing a soothing, refreshing touch to the face.
For those with dry skin, aim for ingredients like fatty acids, ceramides, cholesterol to support skin barriers. Optimal results can be seen if products include emollients, occlusive, and humectants.
For those with oily skin, opt for non-comedogenic, lightweight moisturizers. While other products may dry out your skin, it is fundamental to prevent a loss in moisture and increase in oil production.
I use the CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, which has helped immensely with minimizing oil, but retaining some oil to prevent dryness. I really recommend this product, as I have noticed a huge change in my skin after using it. Of course, there's also the AM version of this moisturizer. I've seen plenty of people use the AM and PM moisturizer for corresponding times of the day.

3. Sunscreen
Whether when you're basking in the sun or receiving a glimpse of sunlight, sunscreen is especially crucial in protecting the skin from UV light. Through its application, sunscreen can reverse the aging process and protect the skin's youthful appearance.
In discussion of sunscreen, SPF is commonly mentioned. SPF, sun protection factor, measures the amount of UV radiation required to prompt sunburn. For day-to-day use, it is recommended to select a sunscreen of at least 30 SPF. Of course, if you want to spend longer outdoors, a greater SPF of 60 is suggested.
For those with dry skin, sunscreen should generally be applied on top of your moisturizer, but for those with oily skin, only sunscreen needs to be used, as some contain moisturizing properties.
