Continuing from last week's discussion of skinimalism, the art of minimizing the number of products used the skin to maximize benefits, the PM skin routine should be kept relatively simple.
1. Cleanse
For night use, it is recommended to use a gentler cleanser to prevent irritation. If your morning cleanser is more gentle, subtle, you can use that here as well. However, if your morning cleanser is more active, a gentler one should be selected in the evening. As always, due to difference in skin types, each version should use cleansers suited for their regimen.
Low pH cleansers are ideal due to the slight acidity associated with maintenance of healthy skin. Generally at a pH level of 5, our skin should avoid high pH products, as it can cause face swelling, increase in bacterial growth, and reduction in skin flexibility. When searching for a gentle cleanser, sulfate free, soap free, fragrance free, paraben free, and noncomedogenic are primary terms to look out for.
